About the workshops:
These workshops aim to help people engage with poetry as a creative wellbeing tool
for self-expression/exploration and connect with others through art. It is a relaxed
and fun workshop for all abilities, helping you improve your content, form, structure,
and editing skills. The workshops will be a drop-in style, so you can attend every
week or whenever you are able to. The workshop topics will also be influenced by
the participants' interests.
About the facilitator:
Lauren Temple is a multidisciplinary creative from Manchester. She sees herself as a
storyteller, often using a narrative style that weaves fantasy with mundanity to
examine our contemporary life. Lauren’s work often focuses on queerness,
feminism, and mental health. Lauren has worked with organisations such as
Manchester International Festival, Apples and Snakes, HOME Theatre, and
Manchester City of Literature. Altrincham born and bred, Lauren is passionate about
supporting local creatives.
About the venue:
Right at the heart of Altrincham, Oyez Arts is a community arts organisation, located
at the historic Altrincham Town Hall. Our workshops will be located in their Stamford
Rooms, an inspiring space with beautiful stained-glass windows and artwork lining
the walls. Teas and coffees will be available during the workshop at an extra £1. The
venue has a ramp access and disabled toilets. The venue is a short walk from
Altrincham metrolink and with nearby carparks available.
