A series of four highly informative and entertaining talks delivered by art historian Emma Anderson.
Each Month will focus on a different work of art, all currently located within a day-trip of Altrincham.
Emma studied art history at the Courtauld Institute, before a career working in UK art galleries and museums. She has always been keen to share her enthusiasms and insights into European art.
These will be informal talks with opportunities for questions and discussion.

How to Look at Stubbs

How to look at Stubbs is the third in a series of four talks concentrating on the piece - A Cheetah and a Stag with Two Indian Attendants, 1765. This piece can currently be seen in the Manchester Art Gallery. Emma will share her enthusiasm for this chance to see a masterpiece close up.
This talk will tell the extraordinary story of George Stubbs, a working class artist from Liverpool, who took the painting of animals to a new level through scientific study.
Doors and licensed bar open at 5.45pm, Emma's talk starts at 6:15pm
