Workshops
Here at OYEZ Arts we play host to many classes ...
Blue lamp workshop
These 2 hour sessions (including tea break with biscuits) are for fun – you don’t need to be good at drawing or indeed any form of art – it’s about making marks and shapes and being surmised with what you can achieve.
Being creative is good for mental health with doodling often being described as yoga for the mind.
Sessions are on a drop in basis – no need to book.

lampshade workshop
I have been teaching Art for seven years, having studied art in Bristol. I began a career as a primary school teacher and now teach art to adults, but my teaching experience helps me to plan good lessons with clear objectives. The two hour class often starts with a review of the previous weeks lesson and then we look at the colours, materials and subject for the session. A lot of my group have been attending for a few years and are confident to try new colours and techniques. People new to the class will be guided and taught at their pace. Materials and paints can be borrowed initially, but all students need their own watercolour paper and I recommend Bockingford A3 paper for my lessons. I encourage curiosity and experimentation. Playing and having fun whilst learning and making new friends.

Calligraphy and YoGa
Discover focus through the mindful flow of modern calligraphy, followed by deep rest through restorative yoga - a complete creative reset.
Re-set and recharge as we shed winter and move into spring. Step out of your busy schedule for a few hours.
Join Steph from Calli by Steph for an introduction to cursive calligraphy. You'll then have a short break followed by a Restorative yoga practice, with Jess from JFB yoga.
Wind down with Calligraphy and Restorative Yoga
In a world that constantly pulls at your attention, this workshop offers something special - a few sacred hours away from screens, schedules, and the relentless hum of everyday life.
In this workshop, you'll discover the quiet joy of slowing down through the deliberate beauty of calligraphy and the profound rest of restorative yoga.
We'll have a gentle half-hour break where you can enjoy warm or cool refreshments and slip into comfortable clothes if you wish, we transition into deeper relaxation.
Restorative yoga is an hour and fifteen minutes of true rest. This isn't about effort or achievement. It's about allowing. Each simple, held posture becomes a sanctuary where your body can finally let go.
Notice what happens when you give yourself this space.
Here, you remember what it feels like to be at ease. Your body shifts from surviving to thriving, from stress to repair, from depletion to renewal.
This is your invitation to pause. To breathe. To simply be.

What's included in the Restorative Yoga:
-
Restorative yoga invites the body into deep rest and the nervous system into safety.
-
Postures are simple and sustained, allowing muscles to soften and breath to move freely without effort.
-
Each pose becomes an opportunity to release layers of tension that often go unnoticed: the jaw unclenches, the shoulders melt, the belly softens. The breath naturally deepens, guiding the body out of stress and into a state of repair and renewal.
